The short version
Laesi is a desktop app. Your vocabulary, texts, and reading history never leave your computer. We don't run a server to store any of it.
What Laesi sends over the internet
Two things, and you can audit both:
- Update check. On launch, Laesi asks our server whether a newer version exists. The request contains your app version and operating system. Nothing else. You can disable this in Preferences.
- Dictionary lookups. When you click a word, Laesi calls the public Wiktionary API with that one word. We don't proxy these — the request goes directly from your machine to Wikimedia's servers.
What we store about you
For paying customers, our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy or equivalent) holds your name, email, and billing record. We store your email and license key so we can support you. That's it.
What we don't do
- We don't have accounts, passwords, or profiles.
- We don't track which books you read, which words you click, or how fast you're learning.
- We don't sell your data. We don't have telemetry. We don't train AI on anything of yours.
